Proof-texting is a prevalent mistake in interpreting the Bible. This involves selectively using isolated Bible verses or passages to support a preconceived idea or argument without considering their original context, intended meaning, or the wider teachings of the Bible. It encompasses the act of extracting verses from their surrounding context and using them as "proof" to bolster a specific viewpoint.

The pages of the Bible hold a timeless narrative that weaves together the story of God's interaction with humanity. Among its many books, 1 and 2 Kings stand as crucial chapters, chronicling the history of Israel's monarchy, from the reign of Solomon to the fall of Jerusalem. Yet, beneath the surface of political intrigue, power struggles, and prophetic voices, these books contain a deeper revelation pointing us to Jesus Christ, the central figure of history.

Do you ever find yourself nurturing anger? Let’s be truthful here. At times, it’s difficult to release the grip of offense caused by others. We humans have a knack for rationalizing negative mindsets and wrongdoings. It’s likely that someone posed a question to Jesus along the lines of, “So, how much time can I hold onto anger and resentment towards my enemy before I’m compelled to resolve it?” After all, we’ve grown up hearing the adage, “Revenge is a dish best served cold.”

In 2023, I began incorporating “hearing” the Bible as a part of my daily devotions. Listening to the Bible while reading can indeed enhance your devotion time, help you maintain consistency in daily reading, and improve your Bible knowledge.
